TRCK REVIEW: TNG - FEE
TNG is a post-hardcore band from Malolos, Bulacan. They just formed around the 3rd quarter of last year. Hearing from word-of-mouth, I’ve heard that this band were praised by my peers in the hardcore scene. From what I’ve listened to, their influences span from Orchid to Pianos Become the Teeth and to even Sorority Noise. TNG manage to turn heads in their hometown without having a Facebook page (they have an Instagram account by the way. You can follow the band’s only social media account in the description below).
In the last week of January, the band has released a music video for their online track, “FEE”, and so far this band’s first single have already shown promise. “FEE” is a track that bleeds out all of the painful emotion and it segways to this pounding breakdown. TNG’s debut carries a ton of special mentions, especially to the production; It’s loud, urgent, and emotionally intense. Just so you know, I have a pet peeve of generic breakdowns but this kept me headbanging as hard as I can. All thanks to the proper layers and guitar play that this band has just to stay away from the same-y songwriting that most shit sounding bands have nowadays.
TNG’s lyrics have this heavy use of imagery and it’s backed up by the lead vox’s decent conviction. A lot of the band’s energy is in store in this track. At first, I had this preconceived notion that this kind of post-hardcore has a dime a dozen chord progression and breakdown but I gave them another chance and listened to this track with an open mind. “FEE” quickly grew on me despite the fact that the post-hardcore sound isn’t my cup of tea. TNG got me by the soul, their tasteful songwriting in “FEE” will hold on tight to the listener’s emotion.
