The Strange Creatures - Palipad Hangin Review
TRCK REVIEW: The Strange Creatures - Palipad Hangin
The Strange Creatures is a pop-band from Manila who is signed to the record label, Terno Recordings. They formed around 2013; their easy-breeze, twee pop melodies gained them a fair following ever since. Their remake of 2013’s marvelous single “Stargazer,” was just the icing on the starry cake in their eminent career as a band.
I’ve come to follow some of their singles throughout the past year, most especially, I appreciated the solo project of their female member, Megumi Acordia, and her dazzling collection of singles released through her Soundcloud account. Evolving to a more dreamy production, This also helped the band develop their sound over the years. The Strange Creatures are about to release their long-awaited album that is slated to release soon through Terno Recordings.
Jon Tamayo’s twee-pop conventions work out with Megumi Acordia’s shy vocals in the 3-minute and a half single. In fact, this could lead to an extension of roles in their upcoming album. Actual twee-pop bands are only there for the style but The Strange Creatures has substance, and they keep the spirit of fun and joy alive in this lead single of theirs. The saxophone that enters the 2nd half of the song sweetens the production value a lot. The only thing missing for me was that I wish the saxophone could have been done better or at least appear in the whole track. The melodies saved a lot of the lyrics that were the usual lyrical-love formula. I can’t wait for their future singles and the release of their album!
