Gangbrxng - Patibong EP Review
Mini EP Review: Gabrxng - PATIBONG
Gabrxng is the latest offering of Southern-based urban record label Pushtrak, and the guy happens to be affiliated with Rep The Hood (Pricetagg’s label/crew/group) based on his Soundcloud account. PATIBONG is his debut EP, housing in 7 tracks with features from Pushtrak labelmates like Just Washington and Israel Noel. The EP comes across as this pseudo hype train record that goes smoothly in between its hypercise fueled anthems and one-dimensional ad-libs.
PATIBONG is dominated by eerie and atmospheric production by one of Pushtrak’s residential producers KidTrill$ — and this saves most of the undercooked tracks that are missing most of its magic. Tracks like Putamad and Alpha Sino don’t shy away for how much of Gabrxng’s swag is shining other than his superficial hype. The production is clean, and it never misses a spot in the rapper’s taste in picking the ‘right’ beats in his tracks; Kidtrill$ by the way, carries the torch of one of the label’s evolving trap hip-hop producers. Gabrxng’s skill in making the track itself attractive/likable, however, doesn’t hit hard as much as his predecessors do.
