TRCK REVIEW: Just Hush - Shinobi

Finding few Filipino R&B artists that aren’t on the commercial market may be tricky for the casual listener. This means that it leads to most new listeners a hard time finding some of the genuine talents and having a keen ear for choosing the right production. If anyone asks me about who should they look out for, I directly link them to Maduming Kwarto and their roster of talents; but I set their eyes to the one and only, Just Hush of DRP (Dirty Room Productions).

Just Hush just released a new single titled, “Shinobi”. Mixed and Produced by Jim P (most notably known for producing Al James’ smash hit “Pahinga), “Shinobi” grabs us out of our seats with its futuristic production and Just Hush’s cold and sweet falsettos. The song takes it lightly in the production which I thought it was loose at my first listen. But after a few more listens, I couldn’t find myself get lost in its wonder.

The single cover art fits its lush production that makes us overlook its typical subject matter. Though, I may find the bass and kicks a little bit underwhelming. It may ruin the vibe of the track and it just didn’t sink in deep but still, Just Hush still manage to carry the whole track with him which is a plus. Will I still recommend this track to many local R&B fans here? Yes. But is it any good to make it last forever? It can be. It just needs to grow in me just a little bit.

4/5
